Who’s Mike?
Four Decades of Experience. Three Generations of Insurance. One Personal Advisor.
Insurance has been part of my family for nearly 90 years. My family’s agency was founded in 1936, and I joined the business in 1984. A lot has changed since then: insurance companies, technology, the way policies are sold and even where my clients live. One thing hasn’t changed. I still believe good insurance starts with knowing the person you’re advising.
Experience You Can Put to Work
I’m proud of the CPCU designation, but letters after your name only go so far. The value of experience is having seen difficult markets before, knowing which questions to ask and recognizing when something in a policy deserves a closer look. I’ve also learned that the cheapest quote isn’t always the best insurance decision.
“Understand the risk first. Then find the right way to protect it.”
Experience Matters. So Does Showing Up.
I grew up in a coastal community, so living near the water has always been personal to me. During Superstorm Sandy, our own office and homes were severely damaged along with those of many clients and neighbors. While dealing with our own damage, I handled many hundreds of claims for clients whose homes and lives had also been disrupted.
That experience stays with you. It showed me firsthand what happens when an insurance policy is finally called upon to do its job, and why the details matter long before a storm ever arrives.
Trusted by Families. Trusted by Organizations.
Over the years, I’ve also advised large companies in a variety of industries, along with school districts, libraries and other public and private organizations. Those accounts can involve complicated risks and significant assets. I bring the same care and attention to my personal insurance clients. You don’t have to own a large company to benefit from that level of experience.
Businesses & Organizations
Insurance programs for businesses with more complicated property, liability and management exposures.
Schools & Public Entities
Experience working with school districts, libraries and other public organizations.
Individuals & Families
Personal insurance for homes, coastal properties, valuable possessions and families with insurance needs in more than one state.
More Than a Personal Insurance Broker
My commercial insurance experience includes Property & Liability, Errors & Omissions, Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Representations & Warranties Insurance, and Aviation, Transportation & Logistics risks.
I continue to advise commercial clients while personally serving individuals and families with their insurance needs.
From a Family Agency Founded in 1936 to Acrisure
In 2020, our family agency became part of Acrisure. For my clients, that means I can continue providing the personal service I’ve always believed in while also having access to the resources and capabilities of a much larger insurance organization.
Long Island Roots. Nationwide Reach.
Long Island is home base, and Florida has become an important part of my practice as clients buy second homes, retire or move south. I’m also seeing more longtime clients move to North and South Carolina. Because I’m licensed throughout the United States, I can often continue helping clients even when their address changes.
“Your address may change. Your advisor doesn’t have to.”
What Working With Mike Actually Means
Technology should make insurance easier, but it shouldn’t replace the relationship. When I review someone’s insurance, my goal isn’t simply to move the policy to another company. I want to understand what you have, what you’re protecting and whether there’s a good reason to make a change.
Sometimes I’ll find a coverage issue. Sometimes there may be a better option. And sometimes my advice will simply be, “You already have a good policy. I’d keep it.”
Start With a Conversation
If you’d like a second opinion on your insurance, send me your current policy or give me a call. Whether it’s a home, a Florida non-renewal, a move to another state or something more complicated, I’m happy to take a look.
